Description

1917 BSA No. III* SMLE in very nice condition. The main service rifle of the British Empire in the First World War, this is a particularly nice example of a rifle produced by British Small Arms (BSA). Rifle shows all typical features for a late war SMLE, including the absence of volley sights. Condiiton is very good. All surfaces show normal wear, but metal presents much better than most examples with a deep blue remaining on receiver, stock wrist, and bolt. Wood shows old dings from service but no major loss of finish. Some stuck wax from storage bag is stuck on muzzle. All mechanical functions work properly. Serials match between barrel and bolt. Brass buttplate is present with some normal wear, but shows no serious discoloration and would polish up to a nice shine if desired.
